China spearheading to help build LNG power plants in Sri Lanka 

Cheng Xueyuan, Chinese ambassador to Sri Lanka has assured the Energy and Business Development Ravi Karunanayake that China will help in building power generation plants in Sri Lanka.

Last year in September India and Japan have promised to set up a $250 million LNG import terminal in Sri Lanka. this will help in meeting the growing energy demand of the island nation.

Sri Lanka is getting help from Indian and Japan in importing the LNG and from China in building the power plants that will generate electricity from LNG. In this regard, the Sri Lankan government issued a letter of intent to the Indian government on September 1, Petronet LNG said in a statement on Wednesday.
